New mEnable 3 Makes It Easy To Set Up And Use Networks of Wireless Handhelds
New tools to wirelessly configure, maintain, and operate wireless handheld devices.
CAMBRIDGE, MA, U.S.A. - November 15, 2007 - SYWARE®, Inc., a leading developer of mobile database software tools, has released a significantly enhanced new version of its very successful mEnable® handheld network product.
mEnable 3 is a highly cost-effective set of tools that make it easy to create and operate wireless handheld device networks. Its new features include remote handheld configuration and maintenance, file and folder synchronization, signal strength detection, and the ability to wipe settings and data from lost handhelds.
It has been designed for third party system developers, in-house developers, and technical and operations managers.
"mEnable 3 makes it incredibly easy to manage users in the field," according to Syware CEO Sy Danberg. "It offers very big capabilities for a very small price, based on a lot of experience, a real understanding of user needs, and state-of-the art technology."
Interactive Wireless Data Exchange
Field personnel can read from and write to any ODBC-enabled server database in real time, wirelessly transmitting data and images. If wireless access is not available at any time for any reason, the data can be stored on the handheld and then synchronized with the server at a later time.
Wireless File and Folder Synchronization
With mEnable, users and administrators can wirelessly synchronize handheld and server files, folders, tables and directory structures, including photographs, drawings and charts. If the handheld contains a camera, its pictures can be uploaded automatically to the central server.
Centralized Management and Control
System administrators can wirelessly configure new handhelds in the field, installing programs, creating directory structures and tables and initializing them with data, and configuring synchronization settings. They can also modify the content and configuration of existing mobile devices, and can wipe the settings, tables and folders from any device that is lost or stolen.
Works With Commonly Used Technologies
Client applications that can share data with database servers via mEnable include SYWARE Visual CE and Report CE, as well as custom-built .NET applications. Databases include any ODBC-enabled data source, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access, and Sybase. mEnable 3 works over any connection that uses TCP/IP, including the Internet.
