The ESOL/Certified Nurse Assistant Program Offers Career Boost
Twice a year, 12 immigrants interested in becoming certified nurse assistants or home health aides take their first steps through the Cambridge Community Learning Center’s ESOL/Certified Nurse Assistant Program. These positions are in demand in the area, and there is potential for advancement to other positions in the healthcare field with further education.
Students attend class three times a week for English, math, and career planning. Material for the classes is based on the language and math demands needed for training or on the job. Program graduates move on to the training programs to earn certification.
Each year, the Friends of the Community Learning Center has awarded special scholarships to several graduates of this program who were accepted into certified nursing assistant training programs, the next step in this field.
